Inspiring surroundings are essential for any writer and for the last three days, we have been in beautiful Knaresborough and Harrogate, in North Yorkshire.
Leafy, with cobbled streets, bevelled windowed tea rooms and silvery river walkways, this part of the world is just breath-taking. You can just imagine bonnet wearing ladies “taking the air”, with dashing young men in hot pursuit.
Everywhere we went, golden daffodils were bobbing their heads in the sunshine.
I seemed to be taking mental notes wherever we went and these surroundings definitely help to fuel a writer’s imagination.
Sometimes, it does you good just to step away from the notebook/laptop/PC and drink in the atmosphere!
I think without doing this regularly, it’s easy for us writers to get stuck in a bit of a rut.
Happy travels everybody!
